Evaluation

Impact Evaluation:  We ask that you complete reading the program planning packet.  Then we would encourage you to work with your club/group to create a yearly club program plan.  This will be shared with 4-H families in your club and the Extension office.

Step 6: Evaluation

Planning alone is not enough to make a successful 4-H club. People must follow through with their responsibilities. To insure a successful experience, you must check with people and see that plans are being carried out and that details of the plan are communicated to others.

Evaluating progress is an ongoing process. You need to make sure that your plan is still appropriate. At some time during the year, you may need to modify your plan.

The planning committee can help insure that things are happening by:

How are we doing?

After several meetings look at the goals again. Ask the following questions:

Points to Look for in a Good 4-H Meeting will help you to evaluate each meeting. You may want to check with others to see if they feel the way you do. If you answer "NO" to more than five of the questions, some things about the meeting need changing.

At the end of the year look at the total program. Record your club's feelings for next year's planning committee.

Another tool you may wish to use to evaluate your club plan is the Illinois 4-H Standards of Excellence for 4-H Groups. A Peer Evaluation Activity is also included.

Thoroughly evaluate what has been happening and use the information to "Make the Best Better."
