Groundcover for heavy shade in moist organic soil. Grows 4–6 inches tall and may climb. There are a number of cultivars available offering a variety of leaf variegations and size. Most are hardy from zone 5-9, but hardiness is dependant on the cultivar. Some of the cultivars may need winter protection for best survival. Most prefer protection from winter sun and wind to prevent foliage discoloration over the winter.
