Team Building Activities
Trust-building activities are fun ways to bring a committee or club together and build their trust and cooperation level. When the group trusts each other, it will be much more productive. Consider trying some team building activities with your committees. Team-building activities are challenging and fun, teaching the group the importance of cooperation, communication and group planning in accomplishing a task. Some get-acquainted or ice-breaker activities can also be used to make the committee feel more comfortable.
Team Building for Effective Committees
Committees have delicate balancing acts to perform. On one hand, they need to be task-oriented; on the other, they want to promote good group relationships. If a committee is to be effective, its task must be clearly identified and group members must work together to accomplish its task or goals.
Because a number of people are involved in committees, the relationships that develop between the people are also important. The group needs time to build trust with each other before they will feel comfortable sharing their ideas and opinions.
Task and relationship, the two main components of committee functioning, need to be in balance. If all the committee does is work at its task or goal, people may feel neglected and the committee is not effective. On the other hand, if the committee only enjoys itself, it will not be productive either. A healthy balance between task and relationship must be found.
Try the following team-building activities with your committee.
