Native
to Mexico and Central and South America. Cosmos is from
a Greek word meaning beautiful and orderly.
Sow
seed 1/4 inch deep or set transplants in the garden
after all danger of frost.
Cosmos will grow
in full sun. Space the plants 12 inches apart. Planting
them this close to each other helps them to grow together
and provide support. Cosmos will grow 3-4 feet high.
Cosmos
are easy to grow. They do well in dry weather. Do not
overwater. Cosmos will reseed themselves. Butterflies
like their flowers. They can be cut for flower arrangements.
Leave the plants after a killing frost. Birds love their
seeds.
