School nutrition professionals play a critical role in the health and well-being of children. They directly impact and influence childhood nutrition through the meals they serve and by encouraging healthy eating habits that can last a lifetime.

University of Illinois Extension and the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) will offer professional development training for school nutrition professionals in early August. These trainings help ensure that all school nutrition professionals have the knowledge, training, and tools to plan, prepare, and purchase healthy products to create nutritious, safe, and enjoyable school meals.

There will be two training opportunities, and an ISBE child nutrition program consultant will be the keynote speaker.

Registration is from 7:45 - 8 a.m. The training will start promptly at 8 a.m. and last until 12:30 p.m.

  • Tuesday, August 6, 2024 - Pearl City High School, 100 South Summit St, Pearl City
  • Thursday, August 8, 2024 – South Beloit High School, 245 Prairie Hill Road, South Beloit

The training will provide four hours of USDA Professional Standards credits for the 2024-2025 school year. There is no charge for this training; however, pre-registration is required. Register online or call (815) 235-4125. Registration will close on July 30.

University of Illinois Extension provides equal opportunities in programs and employment. If you need reasonable accommodations to participate in this program, please call (815) 235-4125. Early requests are strongly encouraged to allow sufficient time to meet your access needs.
