Ready, Set, Grow Gardening Workshop To Offer Demonstrations and Vendors

Join the Master Gardeners of Carroll, Lee, Ogle and Whiteside counties in cooperation with Sauk Valley Community College on March 15 for Ready, Set, Grow. During three different sessions, participants can choose to attend workshops about hypertufa, terrariums, small fruits, attracting birds, container gardening, spring wildflowers, herbs, gardening with native plants and much more.
New this year to Ready, Set, Grow will be demonstrations in the East Mall of Sauk Valley Community College. These demonstrations will be offered during scheduled breaks and lunch. Topics include: Basics of a Beautiful Vase Arrangement, Forcing Spring Branches and Bulbs for Indoor Bloom and From Your Garden to Your Blender. Along with the demonstrations in the East Mall will be local vendors with unique gardening items for purchase. Last year 20 vendors participated in Ready, Set, Grow and that number is expected to grow for this year.
A keynote presentation on Heirloom Flavor will be given by award-winning author, enthusiastic gardener and heirloom authority - Doreen Howard. The program fee is $40.00 and includes morning refreshments, lunch and select handouts.
