"I WAS WONDERING WHAT TYPE OF HOUSEPLANT I HAVE. I WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS CALLED SOMETHING LIKE BORACOLA SHEFRILLA. I WAS WONDERING IF THAT WOULD BE ENOUGH INFORMATION FOR YOU TO TELL ME WHAT IS THE REAL NAME... Jennifer, Your plant is an schefflera arboricola. For care info check out these websites: http://www.evergrowing.com/tips/arboricola.htm http://www.urbanext.uiuc.edu/houseplants/types/schefflera.html They like lots of light and like to dry out well between waterings. Good luck. Darlene"

All Experts-Zebra plant
"Hi Darlene, I've had my zebra plant for about 3 years, and it has grown to a little over 3 feet tall. The problem is that the first 2 feet, has no leaves anymore, and it is very top heavy, to the point where if I don't lean it up against a wall, it has fallen over a few times. Is is possible to cut the top off, re-root it in water, and then plant it when it re-roots? Or will that inevitably kill it? Thank you very much for your help. Jeff, If you are going to cut it off I wouldn't root it in water,I would dip in in rooting homone, such as Roottone or Hormodin, then insert it in a fresh pot of soil. It should root within a month. Keep it lightly moist but not wet. It would be safer still to air layer the cutting off, then it is already rooted when you cut it off and this is the perfect time of year to do that. You can find complete instructions to do that at the following websites: http://aggie-horticulture.tamu.edu/extension/ornamentals/airlayer/airlayer.html http://www.urbanext.uiuc.edu/houseplants/propagation_airlayer.html Be sure to keep the old base for at least 3 months. It will likely send out new shoots and form an even bushier pretier top than it has now. Good luck. If you need more info write again. Darlene"
