Veronica Aranda provides health education programming and leadership to residents of Cook County with emphasis on parent-child relationship, women's health, early childhood health education and maternal and child health. Ms. Aranda is fully bilingual and provides health education programming both in English and in Spanish.

Aranda earned her master's degree in public health (MPH) with a focus on community health sciences: maternal and child health from the University of Illinois, Chicago (UIC). She graduated from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign with a bachelor's degree in Human Resources and Family Development focusing on Child and Adolescent Development.

Prior to joining Extension, she worked at the UIC Health Research and Policy Centers where she was the program manager for two research projects; one studying the prenatal care practices of first-time mothers, and the other focused on how community-based organizations mobilize community residents to promote change within their communities. While at UIC, Aranda presented at American Public Health Association annual meetings and collaborated on journal articles.

She has dedicated time at various hospitals and health centers working on diverse community health issues. She is interested in promoting children's health from preconception through adolescence. Issues such as prenatal and maternal care, child wellness, home environment, and the child-parent relationship are of particular interest to her. She is part of the organizing committee for the annual March of Dimes event Celebrando la Mujer Latina (Celebrating the Latina Woman).

Aranda's professional affiliations include the Society for Public Health Education and American Public Health Association.
