Jane Scherer provides leadership to the State Office of Web Development that manages more than 350 Extension websites including the State Extension website and the Urban Programs Resource Network website. She has specialized in creating and marketing interactive educational websites for teachers and children.
Her career has focused on developing specially-targeted programs for audiences including at-risk youth, pregnant and parenting teens, limited resource families, displaced homemakers, and 4-H volunteers. Her current interests focus on using technology and the Internet in Extension programming and marketing.
She has received more than $18 million in grant monies and developed more than 1,900 Extension publications. She has written numerous publications and articles on targeted programming, consumer education, and non-traditional delivery systems. She has received the USDA Superior Service Award, the Presidential Environmental Youth Award, the U of I Mother's Association Medal of Honor, as well as numerous other awards.
She received her B.S. and M.S. in home economics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
