Donna Nuger continues her service to University of Illinois Extension as the Metro Youth Development Educator serving youth in the urban areas of DuPage, Kane and Kendall counties. Nuger began her career with University of Illinois Extension in 2004 as the Youth Development Educator for Kankakee County where she developed a series of environmental education programs for youth in grades 1 through 8. The Power of Choice, Conflict Resolution, Leadership Skills You Never Outgrow and Parliamentary Procedure have promoted youth leadership in youth in urban, suburban and rural communities. Nuger has created summer science opportunities for urban youth through Robotics Camp, Who Lives here GPS/GIS experiences, How's That Work physical science classes, and the Harry Potter inspired Howarts School at Camp Shaw's School of Science Wonders.

Health Jam has inspired youth to consider health careers and how to live a healthier lifestyle. This urban program reached out to youth in Elgin providing 2 days workshops with health care and fitness professionals to provide educational experiences that inspire health, and safety awareness followed by 8 weekly classes to support continued healthy choices. Extension's educational mission was furthered through work on committees on the local regional and state level.

Nuger received her B.S. in Animal Science from University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and her Master of Arts in Teaching degree from National-Louis University. She has been a very active volunteer with Girl Scouts of DuPage, Boys Scouts of America, her local school board, Lyons Township Dog Training Club, People to People Student Ambassador Program and Garden Clubs of Illinois Board. Her contributions have been in the area of volunteer development, youth education and environmental issues. Nuger's service to youth has been recognized by National Association of Extension 4-H Agents Achievement in Service Award and the Honor Pin by Girl Scouts of the USA.
