Chris Enroth is the Horticulture Educator serving Henderson, Knox, McDonough, and Warren Counties in west-central Illinois. Chris, a native to nearby Quincy, attended Southern Illinois University in Carbondale and received his bachelors of science in landscape horticulture. Following Carbondale, Chris relocated to Manhattan, Kansas where he attended Kansas State University and earned his Masters of Landscape Architecture.
Chris has a variety of experience in the landscape industry from internships at the Missouri Botanical Garden to Klingner & Associates, a local engineering firm. Chris has also developed a diverse professional portfolio having worked as landscape installer designer, and project manager on a multitude of commercial and residential projects with Howe Landscape Inc. and his own freelance design business. Prior to working with University of Illinois Extension, Chris was employed with the Riley County Parks Department in Kansas designing and managing a variety of public park projects.
Professional affiliations: member of the American Society of Landscape Architects and accredited LEED Green Associate.
Program Offerings
Chris is responsible for horticulture
programming in Henderson, Knox, McDonough, and Warren Counties, with an
emphasis toward the home gardener, landscape maintenance personnel,
commercial landscapers, and includes both adults and youth. Additional
responsibilities include coordinating county Master Gardeners,
providing their training, continuing education, advanced training,
seasonal events, and organizing community outreach programs for
horticulture assistance/education.
Landscape Primer WorkshopWhether your group is a maintenance staff, students, or home gardeners, this course is tailored to fit a variety of audiences. During the course of the day we cover the basics to landscape installation and maintenance, including turf, trees, shrubs, pruning, mulching, watering, fertilizing, and much more.
