Cindy J. Sarkady received a MS.Ed. from Northern Illinois University. Her studies there focused on Adult and Higher Education with a concentration in transformative learning and leadership. Sarkady also holds a B.S. in Education with a minor in Nature Science and English. She taught outdoor education for a residential learning center in Michigan. Sarkady worked as a 4-H Educator in Michigan before moving to Illinois in 2002 where she worked as an administrator at a community college for ten years focusing on student life and leadership development for students. Currently, she has completed two years in a PhD program in Organizational Leadership. Sarkady is a certified Mediator from the Chicago Center for Conflict Resolution, and a Strengthsfinder and Real Colors facilitator.

Sarkady joined the University of Illinois Extension 4-H program in 2013. Her professional affiliations include the Illinois Extension Professionals for Youth Education, where she currently serves as a director for the Northern Illinois region.

Cindy's youth development assignment includes providing overall program leadership and quality, involving community club programs, school enrichment, after-school groups, SPIN groups, and other youth development programs; volunteer recruitment, training, support, and recognition; collaboration with other Unit Educators to support interdisciplinary programs; and, networking with community organizations and agencies to enhance the quality of life for youth in Lake and McHenry Counties.
