Patti Faughn provides overall leadership for 4-H and youth development programs in the five county AJMPU unit, with emphasis in child and youth development, family and social-emotional relationships.

Faughn received her master degree in education from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and her bachelor degree in Child, Family and Community Services from University of Illinois at Springfield. Her research included parent/child interaction and program design and implementation. She is certified in Real Colors, a personality analysis from the National Curriculum & Training Institute (NCTI) and How to Avoid Dating a Jerk(ette) from Lifechangers TM.

Faughn joined Extension as an educator in family life, where she served the West Central Region at the Springfield Center for over 10 years with programs in family, child and youth development. She is co-author of the following youth development resources: Terrific Teachable Moments for Pre-K-2nd grade, 3rd-6th grade, 7th-12 grade, and for Families; and Breaking the Code: Bullying Simulation for middle and high school students.

Faughn is member of professional associations including National Association Extension 4-H Agents (NAE4-HA), the Illinois Extension Professionals for Youth Education (IEPYE), Epsilon Sigma Phi (ESP), the National Extension Association of Family and Consumer Sciences (NEAFCS), and was 2009-2010 president of the Illinois Extension Association of Family and Consumer Sciences (IEAFCS). Most recent awards and recognitions are the 2011 NAE4-HA Educational Package Team Award, 2011 NEAFCS Distinguished Service Award, 2010 University of Illinois Public Engagement Award, 2010 ESP Early Career Award, and 2008 and 2009 U of I Extension Outstanding Program Team Awards.

Faughn provides teen programs in Real Colors in Personality, Breaking the Code: Bullying Simulation (BTC), Welcome to the Real World (career choices), Being Smart with Your Heart (in dating), Teen RISK (Real Issues of the Sexual Kind), Help! I'm Stressed, and Staying Cool When You are Hot.

Teacher and child care training also available.
