Peggy received her Bachelor of Science degree in zoology with a
specialization in wildlife management from Southern Illinois University,
Carbondale. She received her Master's degree in education from Northern Illinois
University. She specialized in Outdoor Teacher Education, Curriculum, and
Instruction.
Prior to her position as a Unit Educator for Boone, DeKalb and Ogle
counties, she was the Natural Resources Educator for DeKalb County for 12
years.
Doty received the College of Education department of Teaching and Learning,
Outstanding Alumnus Award for 2007. The award was for her contributions to the
field of Outdoor and Environmental Education.
Doty is a member of the National Association of Interpretation and has
earned her Certified Interpretive Guide status. She is a representative
member, and past board member, of the Four Rivers Environmental Coalition. Doty
is currently one of two northwest regional directors for the Environmental
Education Association of Illinois. She is a member of the Land Use Committee of
the DeKalb County Community Foundation. She is also an Associate Director
for the DeKalb County Soil and Water Conservation District. Doty also
represents her unit at Kishwaukee River Ecosystem Partnership meetings of which
she has been a part of since 1997.
