Judy Mae Bingman began her Extension career in 1983 as youth advisor in White County, Illinois where she developed such innovative programs as the 4-H Kids Helping Kids Service Learning Club, After Hours after school 4-H clubs and 4-H cooking clubs. She left Extension in 1990 to pursue a magazine publishing career and returned in 2002 to continue her work with the youth in White County and, later, serving families in Clay, Effingham, Fayette and Jasper counties as youth educator. She currently serves as Media Communication Specialist in the State 4-H Office in Champaign.

Judy Mae received her bachelor's degree in agricultural communication from the University of Illinois in 1983 and received her master's degree in human resource education, also from U of I, in 2009.

Judy Mae uses her publishing background to enhance the image of the Illinois 4-H program with clear, easy-to-understand writing and her photography skills.

Judy Mae is a member of the Illinois Extension Professionals for Youth Education where she serves as secretary. She is a member of the National Association of Extension 4-H Agents and has been rewarded in that organization for her personal column and newsletter production excellence.

Program Offerings

Social Media Promotions--Judy offers a variety of tips to help staff get the most from their social media posts, and, in turn, drive clients back to Extension websites for more information.

Media Promotions--The 4-H story can be told in many ways; news articles, features, videos, radio clips, formal presentations. Each has its own style and personality and should be part of each local office's promotional package.

Special Event Promotions-- From school open houses to health fairs to career conferences, Extension staff often need eye-catching promotional items to distribute which tell the 4-H story in quick, appealing fashion. Every piece of printed material which leaves our hands should be the best representation of Extension possible.
