What to do

Complete the activity; discuss your answers with your partner and then with the group. Think about and older adult you know. Then, with a partner, fill in the blanks showing how your older adults are alike and how they are different.

Alike

Different

Because of varied life experiences, older people are even more different from each other than children or young adults are. Their long history of work experiences, their relationships with friends and family, and the changes they have seen in their lifetimes have influenced every aspect of their lives. We can learn a great deal from their experiences.

What did you learn about your older friend or family member through this activity?

Once you have thought about this question, continue on to the next activity.
